Conference curriculum is driven by a document called the Pre-departure training guidelines. It purports five core competencies that promise to empower the student preparing for clinical or research elective in a developing country. Physicians from the ranks of Schulich faculty and beyond will deliver the recommendations in a frame work of their own experiences in global health.

In a lattice of panel discussions, didactic lectures and break out groups, students will explore the fundamentals of personal and travel safety, develop and an appreciation for cultural and language competency and consider challenging ethical scenarios that can arise in the global health context.
