  • When is it?
    • The conference is scheduled for Sunday March 25th, 2012. It starts at 10 am and ends at 3:30 pm.

  • Who should attend?
    • All students participating in a medically-focused elective in a resource-limited setting. Students planning on traveling to resource poor areas, both within our borders and abroad. The conference is designed with IFMSA exchange and Global Health Funding Committee (GHFC) applicants (the Hippocratic Council's funding body) in mind

  • How much does it cost to attend?
    • Only $20! Lunch and snacks will be provided!

  • Where is it?
    • The conference is taking place in the Medical Science Building, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Room MSB 282, which can be reached through the Med Sci entrance, where breakfast will be served to wake you up!

  • How do I register?
    • Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as space is limited! Please click here to register.

  • Who is presenting?
    • Conference curriculum is driven by a document called the Pre-departure training guidelines. It purports five core competencies that promise to empower the student preparing for clinical or research elective in a developing country. Physicians from the ranks of Schulich faculty and beyond will deliver the recommendations in a frame work of their own experiences in global health.

  • What is being taught at the conference?
    • In a lattice of panel discussions, didactic lectures and break out groups, students will explore the fundamentals of personal and travel safety, develop and an appreciation for cultural and language competency and consider challenging ethical scenarios that can arise in the global health context.

  • Who is coordinating GET Ready!?
    • GET Ready! is a student body initiative. Leadership from the Canadian Federation of Medical Students and passionate local student leaders are eagerly preparing for the next iteration of GET Ready! at Western.
