What Financial Aid is available through Western?

Western guarantees that no qualified student will be unable to attend Western or be required to withdraw from an academic program for lack of access to adequate financial resources. To this end, Western offers both Bursaries and Need-Based awards to all students. Bursaries are non-repayable, taxable grants that are awarded on the basis of financial need. Financial need is determined in a manner similar to the Canada and Ontario Student Loans assessment.

How can I apply?

In order to be considered for Need-Based programs, students must complete the Financial Assistance Profile application, located on the Student Services website (studentservices.uwo.ca). This single application includes consideration for all Bursaries and Need-Based Awards offered by Western. Students can submit the application only one time per year.

When can I apply?

The Financial Assistance Profile application is available in August prior to the beginning of each academic year. For returning students, the application becomes available in late August.

To be considered for Need-Based awards, students must submit their applications by October 31st.

Here is how to get to the Financial Assistance Profile:
1. Login at studentservices.uwo.ca
2. Select “my present”
3. There will be a “Financial Assistance” section- when the application is available you will be able to link to it here!

To look into other awards available to medical students, select “Other possible financial aid @ Western”. Here you can search all awards available to students in the Faculty of Medicine.
