Investing in Global Consciousness

Hungry for Change is a club run by medical students at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, at UWO. Our main fundraising event is a gala, which involves a global health speaker, a night of discussion and entertainment, and a silent auction. The proceeds of this event go to a charity (Huruma Children's Home in Kenya) and the Global Health Funding Committee at Schulich (which provides scholarships to students pursuing global health electives).

OUR GOALS:

To prepare medical students for ethically responsible decision making during clinical electives and summer experiences by:

1. Partially funding scholarships for experiential learning and research in resource-poor regions through the Global Health Funding Committee.
2. Hosting the Hungry for Change Gala to bring together globally minded students, faculty members, area physicians and community members.
3. Provide a forum for discussion and education about current issues facing resource poor areas.
4. Generate a revenue for the Global Health Funding Committee.
5. Support a charity that benefits resource-poor regions.
