Admissions Requirements - 2009-2010 Application Cycle

For admission in 2010, students must have achieved a GPA of at least 3.7 in at least two full-time years of study. If, at the time of application, the student has only one full-time year of study above 3.7, he/she will be offered admission pending the completion of a second full-time year of study above 3.7.

MCAT Cut-Offs for 2009

Students from SWOMEN (Southwest Ontario Medical Education Network): for a combined total of 30 or higher.

Students from outside of SWOMEN: for a combined total of 30 or higher.

The Admissions Process: An Overview

Enroll in an undergraduate degree program leading to an honours degree in any field

Write the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT).

Declare your intent to apply to Schulich Medicine no later than mid-September with OMSAS

Complete your application, including your submission of references, official transcripts, autobiographical sketch, and MCAT scores no later than early October

Wait desperately to receive an interview invitation, usually in late January - early February

Interview at Western in March

Wait some more, this time for an official offer of admission

Offers of admission sent out May 13th

If offered admission, make sure to get all the relevant documents in to the Admissions Office BEFORE the deadlines

Show up for O-Week Fun and the White Coat Ceremony in late August

Classes begin at the end of August
